Facts & Questions
Do I need a referral from my GP?
You do not need a referral to attend an Osteopathic consultation. All you need to do is call us and make an appointment or book online.
Will my consult be covered by Medicare?
If you meet the requirements you may be eligible for up to 5 consultations that are subsidised and Medicare will cover a portion of your consultation fee.
Please see your GP if you think you may be eligible for a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan.
Is Osteopathy cover by my private health insurance?
This will depend on your level of cover. If you are unsure, please contact you private health insurance company. We have Hicaps facilities which will allow you to claim on the spot.
Do I Need to bring anything?
If you have any x-rays, scans, test results or reports bring them along with you so that we have all the information available to assist with your assessment, management and treatment.
What should I wear?
We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting or stretchy clothing. It is important for your osteopath to be able to observe your movement and for you to be comfortable throughout the treatment.
What can I expect in my first consultation?
Your osteopath will want to get a thorough understanding of your current condition and a detailed medical history. Once your osteopath has a good understanding of this they will complete a musculo-skeletal assessment.
During this assessment, your osteopath may perform various orthopaedic tests, neurological tests and assess your posture, soft tissues and joint range of motion. Once a thorough assessment has been performed the appropriate treatment will follow. Your osteopath will discuss this with you in your consultation.
